Comments and notes for the worlds most popular roleplaying game.
- [Class] Dervish
A melee-oriented controlling striker class with a unique resource management requirement.
Extensive collection of house rules, designer notes, and cut material from my Shadowrun freelancer days.
- Shadowrun/Mage: The Ascension Crossover Notes
[MAGIC] Long thought lost! Initial notes for Mage: The Ascension in Shadowrun, Third Edition! Not complete, but an interesting starting sketch. I also found the World of Darkness Shadowrun IRC chats I had with friends that I may post sometime.
- Cannon Companion Redux
[CANNON COMPANION] Another long-lost manuscript! This one is my own take on the craze of "gun construction systems" that appeared after Cannon Companion was released. Enjoy!
- Dunkelzahn: The Mass Media Dragon
Old article by Tom Dowd that appeared in Dragon Magazine back in 1993.
- Virtual Realities 3.0: Lite Edition
[MATRIX] My infamous Virtual Realities 3.0 submission pared down to 68-pages. For reference, the full VR3 book is over 250 pages!! But quite a lot of the core material got incorporated into my material in The Matrix.
- Satellite Communications: Alternate Rules
[MATRIX] Optional rules for all the major satcom providers (with fluff text) and optional rules for reliability, black box decryption, and GEO satellites (a la the original Virtual Realities 1 and 2.) Also check out this different set of rules intended specifically for people still using Virtual Realities 2.0.
- Otaku
[MATRIX] My rejected proposal for Otaku in Shadowrun. My take is quite a bit different then the direction they ended up going for them (i.e. technoshamans).
- Virtual Realities 2.0: Quick and Dirty Host Creation Rules
[MATRIX] Uses the original VR2.0 rules. Back then hosts were assumed to be massive server farms or supercomputers or something so this rules concept was pretty novel.
- New Rigger 3 Templates
[RIGGER 3] Templates for more realistic zeppelins, tanks, and even battlesuits.
- New Vehicles: Attack Helicopter and Two Strike Fighters
[RIGGER 3] Two new strike fighters and an attack helicopter built using Rigger 3 and my optional expansion rules.
- GURPS Vehicles to Shadowrun
[RIGGER 3] Notes and rules for using GURPS V2ed as a Rigger 2/3 replacement.
- Negative Grade Cyberware
[MAN & MACHINE] Sure, they have alpha, beta and deltaware. But what about the cheap knockoff PacRim ware? These rules cover the OTHER side of cyberware quality. The cheap, the available ... the potentially fatal!
- Cyberlimb Construction System
[MAN & MACHINE] A Design Point approach for building cyberlimbs. Also see my GURPS Robots -> Shadowrun notes.
- AK404's Anime Weapon Conversions
[CANNON COMPANION] Weapons ranging from Akira to Bubblegum Crisis.
- Thermobaric Explosives
[CANNON COMPANION] Alternatives to the rather ... odd ... FAE rules in CC.
- GURPS Damage to Shadowrun Damage
Three methods of converting GURPS 3rd edition damages to Shadowrun 3rd Edition.
- MEKTON ZETA to Shadowrun
The one and only. Includes coverage of vehicles!
- Diamant's Gun Production Line Rules
[Cannon Companion] Diamant's alternative to the Cannon Companion gun construction system.
- CP2020 Damage to Shadowrun Damage
Converting Cyberpunk 2020 (and by extension, Fuzion), damage to Shadowrun.
Philosophical Musings on Shadowrun Material
Older articles where I talk about various aspects of the Shadowrun setting and my rationalizations of stuff. Note that most of this was written WELL before I did much freelancing - and before I got the chance to "fix" things like Tir Tairngire.
Military and Security NPC Stats: Complilation of all of the (at the time) stats for military and paramilitary forces.
Laser Output Calculator: Ever wanted to know how many kilojoules of power the MP Laser pumped out?
What Is A "PF": Now canonical breakdown of what a Power Factor represents. Also how many PFs you can pull from wall current.
Cyberzombie Astral Hazing: My take on why cybermantic rituals cause cyberzombies to pollute astral space and gives them an astral presence.
Astral Space and the Horrors: Rationalizing how magic works, and the Bridges the Horrors build to our world.
Metahuman Ground Pressure: So will trolls REALLY be falling through floors? Read on!
The ANDREWS System: Discussion on the technology behind the ANDREWS system from Cyberpirates.
Shadowrun Vehicle Countermeasure Systems: Some half-baked thinking on countermeasure systems in 2060.
Datajack Breakdown: Details every part of a datajack in much the same manner that smartlinks were broken out by component in Man and Machine.
Intelligence Agencies: Brief look at the UCAS and CAS intelligence agencies. Also see my articles on intelligence collection and how clearances (in the US) work.
Shadowrun Military Musings (Five Part Series): Set of five files looking at everything from military smallarms to the use of thunderbirds and magic in the military.
Old Rants About Stuff in Shadowrun
I used to get pretty emotional about stuff I saw as "lame" in Shadowrun. In retrospect, having worked as a professional freelancer for the line and seeing what really goes into making a book, I must say these look pretty immature in retrospect! However, I feel like some of the points I made were of some academic interest so here they are :)
Datajack Flow Rates: OMG crack pipe time! :)
Cyberware Comments: The one where I bitch about Man and Machine.
Satcom Gripes: I got so mad at the VR2 rules I made a 250 page fanbook and started on the road to being a freelancer.
Bodypower Implants: I'm sorry, but you can't realistically power cybernetics with your bioelectric field!
Review: Man and Machine: The good, bad, and ugly.
Review: Cannon Companion: What's hot and what's not.
Wierdness
Random stuff that doesn't seem to belong elsewhere!
The Matrix Submission: The actual submission I sent to FASA as part of my bid to write for Shadowrun.
Cyberware Comments: The one where I bitch randomly.
Articles
A system based loosely off the one given in Grimms Cybertales.
Quick notes on converting Shadowrun 3rd Edition to Fuzion.
Converting rating-based Essence loss from Shadowrun 3rd edition to dice-based Humanity Cost.
Nice art but filled with some of the most disgusting munchkin gear ever. Saved only by an EXCELLENT Fashion section and a good vehicles selection. Also does not add more guns to the already gun-heavy CP2020 universe. This is Shadowrun-style shadowtalk (up to p. 21) on the various munchkin items found within.
VERY OLD article I wrote to rationalize smartguns. As time has passed, I think the damn things (as written in most cyberpunk games) make no sense at all.
Various rules-sets that I helped edit or clean up. AFAIK these have not been available since my old site died years ago. So enjoy.
Vargas' Dragonball Z: A set of notes for using Instant Fuzion.
JMA Dragonball Z: This one is a self-contained game and uses the Full Fuzion rules.
Jackknife's Dragonball Z: Another set of optional rules and modifications..
Software
A simple Excel spreadsheet for automating some of the annoying points-tracking you do when building a class in BESM D20. I used this sheet to help build the classes in D20 Centauri Knights.
